More Than Halfway

The temporary job assignment is nearly 2/3 complete - wow! Nobody anticipated an event like Global Pandemic back when we were considering the pros and cons of Mike living in the UK for three years. And I won't dive far into the tears of fear, frustration, worry, and anger that some of you have witnessed from me over the past few months. We are beyond lucky that we have so far stayed healthy, as have those close to us (family and coworkers). The Covid era is forcing everyone to reevaluate what means the most and certainly slow down. The travel-to-the-UK-every-6-weeks-and-stay-for-a-relatively-short-period-of-time...

Here’s to the Twenty-Something Knitters

Instead of the usual Sue, this is her daughter, Carrie, “guest starring” for this week’s post sharing my story as a virtual student trudging through the COVID-19 crisis with the help of some old hobbies. Driving home from school almost two months ago to continue my biochemistry studies from home, I contemplated what in the world I would do with all this newfound time on my hands. Working Hard to FOCUS

Since last blog post our world has seemed to flip upside down (in one short month!). FOR US ALL. Maybe I have found the balance between obsessively reading the New York Times & feeling paralyzed with "what-ifs" or working to figure out the new norm, since a blog is happening. One thing's for sure in the lives of Linda & Sue and our staff and that is all our families are safe in their respective homes - for this we are grateful. Some of the stress for us over the last couple of weeks involved: (a) trying to decide whether to...

Australian Holiday

The holiday season for Linda was quite the opposite from Sue’s, as Linda headed to Brisbane, Queensland, Australia - high summer! The heat there soared to record temps for December mixed with smoke from the blazing fires taking over the country (south of Brisbane). All that, plus daughter Maddie having a newborn, kept us indoors during the heat of the day. The sun rose at 4:15, so it was easy to start our days with early morning walks to a really good coffee shop and then through the neighborhood reserve where we saw Xanthorrea (grass trees), Wallabies, Flying Foxes (kind...

A God Jul in Norway

We had been planning to take a holiday for the family Christmas get-together this year but had not fully settled on the destination (too many choices we are blessed with during this job assignment). However, the long weekend in Oslo that Mike and I enjoyed in early September made us want to explore more of Norway so we decided to head to a smaller city a little further North with the kids. I started second-guessing the decision a little because some questioned it with comments related to wintertime/darkness. But plane tickets and accomodations were already arranged . . . so...
